JAPANESE BLOCKS by SUSAN BRISCOE

I thought that you might like to see some of the blocks that Ive been making from Susan Briscoes Japanese Blocks book.  SOme of the fabrics are hers, but some are taupes from various manufacturers
The blocks are all 9 inch finished

I have used some in my organiser, the second one

This block uses the same fabric for the centre and the surround and the reverse of the fabric in the corners

I have padded the centre

These are separate pieces, fiddly this one as the fabric frayed alot but very effective

Im not at all happy with this one as one of the blades is slightly wonky, but then so am I, especially at the moment, so its done & will stay done, also a padded centre
Its a glorious warm day here, hooray x

WEEK

Hi, Just over a week really, this was how it started... the arrival of Spring.  I manipulated this image showing the wonderful sky and the snow to say here is the face of spring..lol

I have some fabulous NEW Transprint transfer inks from Thethreadstudio
The colours are incredible, no murky colours, fast drying & they transfer beautifully
Watch out for more work using these this year

The studio Bernina with the FLOWER STITCHER foot & the STITCHED SCAPES piece being created, next workshop is on this Monday, I think it is full but if you fancy it give 01536 514 646 Bee Inspired to  book a place

The pond in the sunlight

Yes Spring has arrived, ground cover

Blossom in the trees, so beautiful, such a treat after a long drawn out winter

Look at this wonderful tree, look like an evening gown to me

Beautiful carving in my church, 'they' want to get rid of these pews, heartbroken

Kettering Branch of The Embroiderers Guild.  The start of our TRAVELLING BOOKS
I will try to take pictures often
Guess which one is mine?

The cat of many names, who now has the kennel & the old music box home with a sun veranda, our two house cat, that sometimes (hold your breath) stays in over night, gosh...faint!

Now I know that I have a stash, actually I am renaming it a HOARD.  But when I went into work on Tuesday, the fabric fairy had arrived with brand new Timeless Treasures butterfly fabric, lots of different colours, so I chose cream and brown lol
Over the Easter hols as you know I was ill so I didnt get around to using a curvy ruler lent to me by Val.
So now Ive used it, for quilting and for the edge & this piece now resides on my coffee table in my sitting room & very chuffed am I with it x
See the butterfly pattern in the centre, to quote...such fun.
Last Saturday I had a lovely day at Wing in Leicestershire with a smashing group of ladies.  They were making Stack & Whack units, a method devised by Bethany Reynolds.  I resized the units to
9 inch square & 12 inch square
Silly me forgot to take any photos, but lovely work was produced
In between has been reverse applique, quilting, block making and ...... Such a busy time but very enjoyable x
