PRODUCTIVE
Odd isnt it? you can labour over something for ages and then all of a sudden it just flies together. Three of the wall hanging blocks done hooray and one almost finished. Yippee. Just the dilemma of hills or lake.... hills or lake??? Converting the design into patchwork week by week blocks is a challenge and I promised myself that I would cut all the pieces out and then sew them together, hmmm that didn't happen lol. Much searching was also done to find the block for tomorrow Celtic bias applique class, look and look and there it was, hooray. So I only have to drag in 3 bags, good job that I get dropped off by the door.
Lovely sunny day again, marred by a trip to the dreaded dentist. Who is a new very very young dentist...he 'how has it been?' me....Christmas was awful, he....'oh dear and how is it now' me ...de-robing huge coat, scarf, handbag, it really is a very small room, not used to this room, always went down the corridor to the surgery with the blue door, now I have to follow the very cheerful nurse UP the stairs, feels very weird...I digress... me... climbing into chair...DON'T POKE ME....he looked so surprised as I shouted this out much louder than I intended and the nurse spun round from being absorbed in the computer screen of my mouth in all its gory glory....him...oh no I just want to have a look...me...well don't poke any instruments in anywhere...him ...just an inspection, he was looking a bit flustered by now so I shut up, well my mouth was semi wide open, after locking my jaw in the dentist a while ago I refuse to ;open wide; he can jolly well put up with semi wide.
So I thought in for a penny, hmmm could you tell me if this bit poking at my mouth with an un-gloved hand (I forgot to take the glove off the other hand, goodness he must think I am a nutcase) is something to do with the problem, to which he pounced on my mouth pulling my lip up and out and poking two gloved fingers inside proceeded to give me a lecture on whatever the piece attaching the gums to the jaw is called, the nurse was giving me sly looks. I do think that they had a good laugh when I left, but I have had nearly 3 years of hell with my teeth thanks to a horrid hygienist, in that very room. Anyhow, he decided, (not too sure I thought) that the bit had nothing to do with it as he had never heard of it before, hey he only looked 10. So I was projected rather too quickly up in the chair and I scuffled (made up word) into huge coat etc, still with one glove on and told him that I don't want to see him for at least 6 months, boy he looked relieved, then I had a nice saunter home in the sunshine. My favourite saying came to mind I AM INVINCIBLE

I'm dithering around waiting for my husband to stop watching a badminton bluray so I can watch Skyfall, might have to wait until tomorrow night now, men eh how annoying are they, first a dentist , second a husband, oh well could always go back and sew
cheers!!!!

SPARKLING
Such a glorious day, prompted a visit to the local reservoir. Along with what seemed like the rest of the county. Dogs, bikes, runners, walkers, cars, ahhhh. The path was waterlogged, I guess from melt off the fields, and its years since Ive seen the water so full. Biggest shock is that there now is a parking charge of £2.50 no matter how long you are there. So there were hoards of cars parked on the road, the causeway, the kerbside. For goodness sake its not a fortune, but still very annoying a flat quid would have been much better. I guess once the summer comes a yellow line will appear and it needs to as it is quite dangerous. I spied joggers with ear phones, it is a peaceful beautiful place, why on earth go there to listen to music, of course these were young people, the older ones seemed to be in groups, which again, to me, seems awful, all that nattering, instead of enjoying the peace. But by far the worst was a plethora of children on bikes, most without helmets, peddling far too fast and mostly directly at on comers or ringing bells behind you. Gosh I was cross, what stupidity.
Moan over this is why I went

I am designing a wall hanging for my classes after Easter & went to get inspiration. I still don't have my camera back (huge withdrawal symptoms today) so this was taken on my phone
Originally the piece was to be a landscape but after pondering on this scene, I am wandering about a lake scene with a boat. If you were making it would you prefer to see some water in it or just hills and trees? This is a silly picture with the tree slap bang in the middle but I couldn't see wearing varifocals with a tint and a pair of sunglasses and a hat, I am not to go outside in the sun without protection (b stupid if you ask me, but I comply)
I wanted to capture the sparkling water, the breeze was quite stiff and therefore the water looked like little ruffles
Best seen in this photo
Ive added a filter. This now looks like fabric, ignore the atomic blur, I could clone that out
Close up, this has potential, not for the wall hanging, but for a piece of creative work. The boat has such interesting shapes now. Maybe my phone camera is not so bad!
Signs of spring are beginning
Amongst the detritus of autumn and winter a few little shoots are popping up
But the floods are still very real, this field has never been under water for as long as I can remember
More sparkling!
There should be a newsletter soon, with a mini workshop & there may be a freebie on here soon.
Thanks for reading, off to spend time with my family, eat & laugh, life is good x

I am looking forward to Monday when I can watch Skyfall on our uber TV & see if all the hype is correct.
A good tidy up of the studio has been done and I no longer am steping over a huge mound of Owlee fabric. I have two projects on the go at the moment. Window which is a patchwork wallhanging for my classes after Easter and my second Affinity piece that I posted about, a few posts back
Hope you have an enjoyable weekend x

ROTTEN DAY & I AM TOTALLY FED UP

Ive had such a miserable morning that I thought I would cheer myself and everyone else up with some nice photos
This is the cat of many names and her not cardboard box. This is the remnants of my mother in laws stereo cabinet that is strong wood that my husband has made into her box. Where the handle is flaps down with a hinge to feed her when it is raining and the roof is covered with roofing felt and also flaps up to allow for airing and to catch the rays on chilly days. Okay we are totally mad, so in addition, she has a mat and a jacket to sit on and peer at us through our kitchen window. We do try to get her to come in, in fact in over 2 years she has stopped in once, in an indoor cardboard box (what is it with her and cardboard boxes) Still being spoilt, I bought her double cream this morning and the lovely smile I got quite cheered me up for a few seconds

Sunday was my 40th wedding anniversary. Yellow Roses & freesias were in my bouquet and these are very lovely sent from my husband and my voyaging daughter, the smell is divine.

In the bottom corner of this picture is the dreaded router that has been driving me bonkers for a few weeks now, I cant watch any videos without the awful circling and iplayer is now non-existent, not allowing me to view the last but one (there is a name for that, oh yes penultimate) episode of Miranda grrrrr
Off to collapse in front of the TV and wallow in my unfortunate-fullness for a while. Normal service resumed soon - to quote Mr Bennett 'and sooner than it should' x
