OUCH

Dancing the quick step in front of about a hundred people last night, my shoe pinged undone and wayyyyyy, onto my butt I went pulling my poor husband with me.  With hopes that no-one saw....the singer thanked us for the floor show :-)
Oh dear, sore cheeks today, but it was so very funny.  We are actually quite good at the quick step but I will make sure that I DONT wear those shoes again !!! x

DEMOB HAPPY

Whoooo its Easter hols, the sun is shining and I feel so very well
Even happier to buy some fabric [big] lol
I have been pawing it this evening
I wonder what it will become, so exciting to have lumps of pretty fabric and then turn them into something useful.  Beautifully bright fabrics that will glow with warmth in the winter time and look bright and cheerful in the summer time.
Hose pipe ban cames into force this week, so very early this year.  So all the water is being saved in the house to give the very thirsty plants a drink.  I guess we wont buy many bedding plants this year because of drought.
In addition to this, our very silly government has told us to top our petrol tanks up to two thirds full, just in case of a tanker strike, its chaos everywhere, our main route into town is chocablock with traffic queues at the petrol station and blocking the major route, I guess it must be some sort of perverse propaganda!, maybe its to help pay for the daft budget we have just had.  Hey if you want a hot cornish pastsy you can pay VAT on it at 20% but if its cold you dont have to pay it.  What a nonsense.  Actually makes me laugh its all so absurb
So to end here are some pictures of my beautiful but daft country

Happy lady birds x

AT THE COAL FACE

Masterclass day today, where students have been learning about motion with human form and stitching using such yummy fabrics as organza, Angelina & lace.
Stunning pieces are being produced, all in their individual way & I wish I had remembered to photograoh them.  This is the second in the motion series & a critique was in order for the pieces from the last class.  I am a truely blessed teacher with such wonderfully creative pieces being shown.
I shot this panoramic view yesterday.  Here in England we are having a glorious Spring, warm, clear and bright
This is the view from a different walk, one that I can now manage being so much better having stopped taking the diabetes pills. I was marching along through the fields so glad of having my life back
I have often shown pictures of my church below, however this is my actual parish church, unfortunately the gate was locked
If you look carefully you will see posts marking out the intented two storey extension, these stones will stay but the ones near the tree and the tree will go, I am very sad about this
Secret lane, where the fairies live
Yeah, some places are still for walking only
I found this window, which I had not noticed before and on closer inspection, look at the wonderul fleur de lyes
The colours are complimentary orange and blue & remind me of Provence
I am developing a new set of one off short sharp workshops called Quick Stitch Fix, to be launched on 7th April 2012 - Easter time, more details will be appearing over the following days
Thanks for reading x

NEAR & FAR

Last night was a committee meeting for my local Embroiderers Guild.  The theme for next year is 'Keep it Local' or something like that
This morning, when the sun had broken through the mist, I went for a walk, locally, I was plodding along pondering on this theme whilst looking at red brick houses glinting in the sun and knarled old trees looking majestic, there was hardly a breath of wind and no-one about, I felt as though I was walking through a dream.

As I was crunching along the uneven worn old path, suddenly a song popped into my head and has now become an ear worm.

Why?  I think because two of the ladies had just been on holidays to the Indian Ocean.  One was on the ship that lost its electricity, just a week before the problems.  She said that it was a lovely ship & the staff really nice

The other has been to the Seychelles. In a previous blog I posted a picture of the emerald green flash at sunset (google green flash)  I first learnt of this when I was nine & laid up in bed & remember the name Seychelles .

So I suppose that memory is why this is going round and round my head

So I did a search and found this link http://www.johnshine.com/FAP.htm

Lovely innocent voices with an easy listening tune, cant work out how to get it onto here but these are the words, tumbling through my head

Words and Music by Alex Kramer and Joan Whitney, © 1948
Far away places, with strange sounding names,

Far away over the sea . . .
Far away places, with their strange sounding names,
Calling, calling me . . .

Goin' to China or maybe Siam,
I wanna see for myself . . .
Those far away places, I've been reading about,
In a book that I took from the shelf . . .

I get so excited whenever I hear
The whistle of a train . . .
I long for the day I can be on my way
And look for those castles in Spain!

Call me a dreamer, well maybe I am,
But I know that I'm burning to see
Those far away places, with their strange sounding names,
Calling, calling me . . .

Inspiration comes from such strange sources, on the way back I found a few pieces of honesty, which for some odd reason reminds me of China. Have no idea why

Where is my sketchbook?  I feel a few scratchings coming on........

CHOCKS AWAY

Good Morning from a very foggy England, with a bright pale yellow ball of fire trying to burn off the enveloping mist, there are drops of dew hanging from the branches outside the studio, like droplets of pearls or crystals they are producing a magical feel.
I am not sure if this picture shows anything interesting but it is clickable and a great LINE & TEXTURE picture
Today is the LAUNCH OF DESIGN TO STITCH & the file HAS BEEN SENT so check your Inboxes or spam and let me know if you have not received it
I shall leave the registrations open for a few more weeks, just incase more of you would like to join
Off to work now, teaching machine patchwork to a lovely group of ladies and then its lunch with Stash and an afternoon of stitching in really good company
Hope you have a good day and thanks for reading x
